Our First Neighborhood Has Won An Award!

We are humbled to inform you that that the board of Trustees of the Historic Macon Foundation is recognizing GBHS/d/b/a The River Edge Foundation with the 2011 Preservation Award for Appropriate Infill Housing for our First Neighborhood Permanent Supportive Housing construction at the intersection of Bowman Street and Emery Highway.

As you know, First Neighborhood is a complex of 18 duplexes constructed with a competitive grant award of first round ARRA Neighborhood Stabilization Program funding, one of two only two supportive housing complexes to utilize this fund pool.  First Neighborhood opened in October 2010 and has been fully occupied for several months, providing homes and hope for individuals seeking recovery from mental illness or co-occurring disorders who were formerly homeless.

The Awards Ceremony will be held at the Cox Capital Theatre on 382 Second Street, Macon, Georgia 31201 Tuesday, May 3, 2011 at 6 PM.

The Preservation Awards are intended to recognize the assets that make Macon unique and inspire appreciation for our city.  We are thrilled that yet another constituency recognizes and appreciates the value of the work of River Edge.
