Residential Treatment for Men

The Billingslea Recovery Residence of River Edge provides residential treatment services geared to meet the needs of men 21 and over. Billingslea provides a supportive alcohol and drug-free environment where men can engage in evidence-based treatment toward a life of full recovery. Billingslea promotes resilience, optimal wellness, and employment opportunities, as well as self-advocacy and life skills. Most residents complete treatment within 9-12 months.

Billingslea Recovery Residence is named for community leader Albert Billingslea, who was a treatment advocate for individuals with substance use disorders.

Admissions Criteria:

Billingslea Recovery Residence is designed for men ages 21 and older who, after detoxification, are unable to discontinue harmful substance use without further assistance. Admission assessment includes a tuberculosis screening and a nursing assessment. Any complex medical or mental health conditions must be stabilized prior to admission.

LifeSPRING Recovery Residence for Women

LifeSPRING: Life. Shelter. Purpose. Recovery. Including the Next Generation

LifeSPRING is a nationally recognized and evidence-based residential and outpatient treatment program for women seeking recovery from substance use disorder. LifeSPRING welcomes mothers, pregnant women, and women primarily of childbearing age.

LifeSPRING aids women in achieving self-sufficiency in a supportive, substance-free setting especially designed to address the unique needs of women. Outpatient, intensive outpatient, and residential services are offered and include individual, family, and group sessions as well as community support, vocational services, and parenting skills development.

Referral Process

Professionals in the healthcare, mental health, education, and law enforcement fields who work with pregnant women and women with dependent children are encouraged to refer women with substance use disorder to LifeSPRING for a risk assessment.

Supportive Housing Overview

To assist individuals’ recovery, River Edge coordinates supportive housing resources for people who meet the HUD definition of homelessness and have a documented mental health or substance use disability. Residents receive wraparound services to help them remain stably housed and to help them build a better life for themselves. Already, more than 389 individuals formerly homeless now have stable, permanent housing as they pursue lives of recovery and contribution!

Housing Referral Process:

An assessment will have to be completed by the Macon-Bibb Economic Opportunity Council (EOC), Inc. 456 Bay Street, Macon, Georgia Phone: (478) 738-3240 / (478) 738-3258.
Once the assessment is complete, and an individual scores an 8 or above, a housing referral will be sent to River Edge Housing by the Macon-Bibb EOC.
We do not accept housing referrals directly. They must come from the Macon-Bibb EOC.
