RIVER EDGE BEHAVIORAL HEALTH ANNOUNCES Mobilize Recovery Across Georgia in Macon

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

MACON – River Edge Behavioral Health and River Edge’s Addiction Recovery Support Center, Macon Recovers, have partnered with The Clinton Foundation, Georgia Council for Recovery, the Georgia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities, and Serve You Rx to host the Mobilize Recovery Across Georgia Bus Tour in Macon. The event will be held this Saturday, September 9th, from 3:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. at Carolyn Crayton Park, located at 150 Willie Smokie Glover Drive, Macon, GA 31201.

September is National Recovery Month. To promote awareness and recovery, The Clinton Global Initiative’s Overdose Response Network’s Mobilize Recovery Across Georgia is visiting around 50 cities across Georgia. Over 800,000 Georgians are living in long-term recovery from a substance use disorder, and the tour will bring communities together to celebrate recovery, educate individuals on harm reduction and share recovery resources and unite members of the community.

Local resource organizations will provide information. Satterfield’s Barbecue will provide food. The program includes a Recovery Month Proclamation by Macon Mayor Lester Miller, speeches by community leaders, testimonials from those in recovery, training on how to use Narcan to prevent opioid overdoses and live music.

The Clinton Foundation will distribute Overdose Aid Kits (known as O.A.K. boxes) to community organizations and to Macon City Hall. The community is invited to sign the tour bus. Throughout the tour, communities members are invited to sign the tour bus at each stop. T-shirts, giveaways, and food will be available while supplies last.

This engaging and uplifting event will bring together Georgia policymakers, local officials, the recovering Georgians, and the rest of the community to unite for recovery.
