Community Open House of New Behavioral Health Facility
for Central Georgia

MACON - River Edge Behavioral Health and River Edge Foundation will host the ribbon cutting and community open house for the new, state-of-the-art River Edge Recovery Center Thursday, October 1, 2020. 

The expanded, new Recovery Center will offer 24/7/365 outpatient behavioral health crisis services as an alternative to emergency room care.  8 new temporary observation beds for individuals needing stabilization of a mental health crisis will also be available.  The 45,428 square foot, cutting edge facility will also offer 30 beds to serve adults needing  detoxification or psychiatric stabilization support as well as 16 stabilization beds for youth ages 5-14.  Each wing also includes a Soothing CenterTM to better serve individuals with sensory challenges like autism.

The open house ceremony and ribbon cutting will being at 10:00 AM.  Robert Reichert, Mayor of Macon-Bibb County and Judy Fitzgerald, Commissioner of Georgia’s Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities will speak. This event is open to the public.

Given COVID-19 safety concerns, River Edge will offer socially distanced, masked, small group tours of the new Recovery Center throughout the day for those interested.  Advance reservations are required and can be made by contacting philanthropy@river-edge.org.
