MACON — River Edge Behavioral Health has been recommended for three-year re-accreditation by the international Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities International (CARF).  Six surveyors from across the nation and Canada visited River Edge August 5-7, 2019 to evaluate all agency operations against 2,053 published, peer-reviewed standards.

River Edge was found to have 99.90258% conformance to standards.  Surveyors offered only two recommendations for improvement.  Surveyors were especially complimentary of River Edge developmental disability supports as well as River Edge housing, medication supported recovery, pharmacy, and residential treatment services.  Surveyors also documented admiration of the national award winning ‘Unmasking Mental Illness’ media campaign as well as River Edge Foundation’s fundraising efforts.

“We are proud of this notable distinction of quality,” said Shannon Terrell Gordon, EdD, LCSW, CFRE, CPS-P, chief executive officer of River Edge. “This external review validates River Edge Board and team’s efforts to make lives better for the people and communities we serve.”
