River Edge Baldwin Celebrates 10th Anniversary

In 2016, River Edge Baldwin is celebrating its 10th anniversary serving the Milledgeville-Baldwin County community.

The facility first opened in February 2006 after the Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities sought to expand provider choice for the uninsured population in the area.

River Edge Baldwin first opened on the top floor of a small local office building on West Montgomery Street and initially served 253 clients with a lean staff.  Today, River Edge Baldwin’s 180 employees serve nearly 4,000 clients from their 22,000 square foot location at Blandy Way.

Services include a partnership with Oconee Regional Medical Center to cover behavioral health cases that come into their emergency room; the Crisis Service Center, which offers emergency services for behavioral health needs 24 hours a day, 7 days a week; and Connect Clubhouse, which serves youth with disabilities and mental health diagnoses by giving them access to after-school and weekend programs and enrichment classes.  Other services include supportive housing for individuals with disabilities; a collaborative with Baldwin County courts to treat mental health and substance abuse issues; and Assertive Community Treatment (ACT), which involves staff members going into the community to treat clients who are not able to come to River Edge for treatment.  The newest service is the addition of a primary health clinic operated by TenderCare inside River Edge Baldwin for its clients.  This enables River Edge to treat the whole person.
