Mental Health Services
Have hope! At River Edge, we know treatment is effective; recovery is to be expected. Based on these beliefs, River Edge offers a comprehensive array of evidence-based, national caliber mental health services for youth and adults. River Edge has special expertise promoting and supporting recovery for individuals and families with intensive needs.
Adult & Youth Outpatient Services
River Edge offers outpatient services at our Emery Highway-Macon, Monroe County and Baldwin County locations. Outpatient services include crisis intervention, assessment, psychiatric stabilization and medication services as well as awareness, education and recovery groups.
Assertive Community Treatment
The River Edge Assertive Community Treatment team is a multidisciplinary mobile team that provides clinical and wrap-around services to adult residents of Bibb and Baldwin counties whose clinical needs exceed traditional outpatient services.
River Edge case managers assist individuals gain access to services and supports to assist personal recovery. The case manager provides skill teaching, support, hope and encouragement as the person served develops relationships and uses services to enhance overall wellbeing.
Child & Youth Outpatient Services
River Edge offers evidence-based, youth-guided, family-focused services for children and youth from five to 17 years of age at our Emery Highway-Macon, Monroe County and Baldwin County locations. Outpatient services include crisis intervention, assessment, psychiatric stabilization and medication services, individual, group and family counseling as well as several group skills training options.
The participant-run Connect Clubhouse at the River Edge-Baldwin location supports the mental health recovery of youth between 7 and 16 years of age. The Clubhouse includes a basketball court, game room, music room and computer lab as well as a warming kitchen and dining area. Operating from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Saturday during the school year with extended summer hours, Clubhouse activities include clinical services, dance, art, music and outings.
Counseling and Therapy Services
River Edge offers counseling, therapy and family therapy services for children, youth and adults at our Baldwin, Bibb and Monroe outpatient locations.
Crisis Service Center
An important alternative to waiting or an afterhours trip to the emergency room, the River Edge Crisis Service Center - located at River Edge-Baldwin - operates 24 hours a day year round to provide outpatient crisis stabilization (23 hours or fewer) to adults facing an acute mental health or substance use crisis. When needed, skilled Crisis Service Center staff can also facilitate smoother transition to higher levels of care.
River Edge offers a host of targeted, evidence-based groups to assist recovery at our Bibb, Monroe and Baldwin locations. Adult groups include diagnosis specific groups, co-occurring illness groups, trauma recovery, grief recovery, anger management and family violence intervention. Groups are also available for youth and their families related to recovery and appropriate development.
Intensive Case Management
River Edge Intensive Case Management is a community-based mental health team that provides wrap-around support services for individuals seeking recovery from mental illness who need more support than regular outpatient services.
Believing in the incredible power of lived experience, River Edge peer support services are support groups – led by individuals in recovery from mental illness who have been trained and certified – to support participants’ recovery.
Because mental illnesses and addictions are biologically based brain disorders, one of the foundations of recovery for many is access to medications that support brain chemistry recovery. For the ease of persons served, River Edge operates two pharmacies integrated in care sites: one at Macon-Emery Highway one at River Edge-Baldwin.

Child/Young Teen Services
As a community-based alternative to psychiatric hospitalization, River Edge operates 16 beds of emergency receiving facility residential stabilization services for youth five to fouteen who are suicidal, homicidal or unable to care for themselves due to mental illness. Average length of stay is fewer than 14 days.
As a community-based alternative to psychiatric hospitalization, River Edge operates 28 beds of emergency receiving facility residential stabilization services for adults in need of detoxification or who are suicidal, homicidal or unable to care for themselves due to mental illness. Average length of stay is fewer than 8 days.
