Co-Occurring

We screen all persons entering services for the presence of mental health and substance abuse issues using evidence-based tools found in the Treatment Improvement Protocol 42 (TIP 42)  published by the United States Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration.

If co-occurring issues are identified, River Edge believes that services should address needs at the same time, not in sequence. Therefore, we offer specialized dual diagnosis services.

These include:

  • Physician & nurse services from professionals with experience in psychiatry and addiction medicine as well as working with individuals with developmental disabilities and the medical fragility or behavior challenges that can occur
  • Dual diagnosis group training services for adults with co-occurring mental illness and chemical dependency
  • On-site ‘Double Trouble’, 12 step dual diagnosis recovery meetings
  • Dual diagnosis group training services for adults with co-occurring mental illness and intellectual disability
